To my fellow journalists --

This website might look like an exercise in self-indulgence. And to some extent, I suppose it is. I am happy with the work I did at newspapers. My career was a big part of my life.

But there is another purpose here. I think current and former newspaper professionals have an obligation to showcase their work. Now more than ever.

​​​​​

Newspapers are fading away, and in some cases disappearing. The paper where I worked in Blue Springs, Missouri, is one of many that no longer exist. Who knows how much longer any of them will be around?

We should all take steps to preserve our work so that future generations can see how good newspapers once were. And maybe how good they could be again someday.

So, don't toss your old clips or photos into the trash. And don't let your work wither away in the attic, either. We dedicated our careers to informing readers. Let tomorrow's readers know you were here. ​
